A moving and magical program featuring composers from three different musical realms: Finnish, English, and German.
English composer John Tavener saw his music as “a window of sound on the divine world.” His mystical “To A Child Dancing in the Wind” for soprano and trio of flute, viola, and harp, is a deeply moving work that knits together nine poems by William Butler Yeats on the subject of love, innocence, and experience.
Soprano Rebecca Farley and harpist Tomina Parvanova-Lyden join Artistic Directors Laura Gilbert and Jonathan Bagg for an extraordinary musical journey that begins with German composer Harald Genzmer’s “Trio” and Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho’s “New Gates”.
