Two Community Visits
Friday, February 24: Gabriela Diaz, violin & Robert Burkhart, cello joined Jonathan Bagg and Laura Gilbert for two community visits, including our first ever at Scott-Farrar retirement community during the afternoon. In the evening we performed for our friends at Plowshare Farm in Greenfield, with whom we have built a strong musical bond over our five year history.
NEA Grant!
We are delighted to receive our first award from the National Endowment for the Arts. The $10,000 grant will support 12 free on-site musical encounters in 2017. These range from classical to folk music, by musicians that our fans in the area know well: the Horszowski Trio, the Borromeo Quartet, Indra jazz trio, singer Jennifer Johnson Cano, to name a few. Our musicians love doing these concerts; they love bringing their music more deeply into the community, to people who can’t easily attend public events. The NEA grant allows us to better acknowledge their tremendous enthusiasm for this kind of work and their contributions to this part of our mission, by giving them adequate compensation.
Aureole Trio community performances
On Saturday, October 8, 2016 Aureole (Stacey Shames, Mary Hammann, and Laura Gilbert) teamed up with Jazimina MacNeil to bring songs of Ravel and Ian Krouse to our two partner communities for people with disabilities: Lukas Community and Plowshare Farm.
And on October 7, Aureole Trio brought music and interesting discussion to Jaffrey-Rindge Middle School’s 300 kids!

EEC favorites Jesse Mills and Rieko Aizawa will perform as a duo on December 17 at 7pm, at a location to be announced. The program will last about an hour and will include Brahms’ G-major violin sonata! We hope many of you will join us to celebrate the end of 2017 and our 5th season of year-round concerts.
