The Singing Stream: A Musical Hike on the Hiroshi Loop Trail

Friday, October 9, 2020 Sunday, October 11, 2020

Friday, October 9; Saturday, October 10; Sunday October 11

Watch our video about this extraordinary performance.

Electric Earth Concerts and The Harris Center for Conservation Education welcome you to The Singing Stream, a musical and poetic journey through the Hiroshi Loop Trail in Peterborough. With Franz Schubert’s tender song cycle Die Schöne Müllerin (“The Lovely Maid of the Mill”) as your guide, we invite you to heighten your senses, open your heart, and walk in the woods in a new way.

On October 9, 10, and 11, mezzo-soprano Jazimina MacNeil and violinist Marji Gere will give short talks exploring the ways Schubert and Wilhelm Müller weave the natural world into their music and poetry. Then, you’ll head out on your own for a 1.8-mile walk through the woods, with Schubert’s music — downloaded to your phone or tablet in advance — as your guide..

Space is limited, and registration is requiredMusic download directions and exact location information will be provided upon registration. Please read the Harris Center’s COVID-19 outing guidelines before registering to be sure this is the right program for you.

Online registration is required. This event is being offered six times from October 9 through 11. Please visit The Harris Center’s Events page. Each day’s event has its own listing, where you’ll find the registration link for that day.

The Singing Stream will remain a part of the Hiroshi Trail in perpetuity, so if you are unable to come to the opening weekend, don’t worry! Instructions for the walk will be made available on the Harris Center’s Trails page after October 12.

Co-sponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education and Electric Earth Concerts.
