A fresh take on early jazz with classical trimmings and soulful underpinnings. Mimi and the Podd Brothers (Carami Hillaire & Adam and Matt Podd) pride themselves on re-inventing the classics and retrograding the contemporary. Their journey from New Orleans, to France, to Tin-Pan Alley, to Harlem includes a special stop for Margaret Bonds’ settings of poetry by Langston Hughes.
