An Evening on Thorndike for Shelter From the Storm

Friday, June 21, 2013 - Tuesday, April 8, 2014

Electric Earth proudly presents a performance of Sir John Tavener’s mini oratorio, “To a Child Dancing in the Wind” to benefit Shelter from the Storm, a vital community organization in Jaffrey that “gives homeless families the help they need to get back on their feet, with dignity.”

“To a Child Dancing in the Wind”, composed for soprano, alto flute, viola and harp, is based on the poetry of William Butler Yeats and evokes the purity and clarity of Renaissance music with some of the most moving, evocative poetry of the Twentieth Century.  Ilana Davidson is our stunning soprano, joined by Stacey Shames, harp and EEC’s  artistic directors Laura Gilbert, flute and Jonathan Bagg, viola.  Shelter’s Pamela White will also make a guest appearance, performing a work for two violas by W.F. Bach.
