Canceled: Dinner and a Show: The American Songbook with Jazimina MacNeil

The April 3rd presentation of this concert is sold out. Thankfully we have been able to add this second show on April 4, however with a limit of 50 tickets, this show too may sell out, so we encourage early ticket purchases. 

Singer Jazimina MacNeil and pianist Gordon Peery team up for a concert of songs from the American Songbook. Beloved jazz standards and show tunes from the early to mid 1900’s represent a golden age of melody, and continue to be interpreted in many different styes by a wide range of musicians.

The unique flavor of this concert reflects the diverse backgrounds of the musicians: MacNeil has sung at Carnegie Hall, Tanglewood, the Aspen Music Festival, Marlboro Music Festival and of course at EEC; Peery is best known for his piano accompaniment to fiddle music, both in the context of contra dances and concerts. MacNeil’s and Peery’s first collaboration was a program of songs with New Hampshire connections. With the sophistication of art song and the freedom of folk music, the American Songbook is a perfect musical meeting place for MacNeil and Peery.

The concert will be presented with dinner over the courses of appetizers, entrée and dessert. 

Songs will be interspersed with a narrative about world and local events at the time that each song was composed, and information about the various composers.

Concert tickets are $30, and applicable to the concert only. 

The purchase of a concert ticket also creates a dinner reservation. The prix fixe dinner is an additional $30, plus bar tab, tax and tip, and will be payable at the end of the evening.
