Different Voices – Videocast, plus pre-concert zoom on May 13, 7pm
Saturday, May 15, 2021 , 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Artistic Directors Laura Gilbert & Jonathan Bagg are again joined by pianist Mimi Solomon for wide ranging program of 20th & 21st century works. David Sanford’s “Klatka Still” for flute and piano was inspired by 70s jazz-rock group “Blood, Sweat & Tears”; Stephen Jaffe’s “Four Pieces Quasi Sonata” also has pop-inspired elements. Russian composer Tatiana Nikolaeva’s delightfully playful “Trio” and Undine Smith Moore’s “Afro-American Suite” bring two brilliant but less familiar mid-20th-century women composers to the fore, completing a richly varied program.
NEW: Pre-concert discussion. On Thursday May 13 at 7 pm the artists & composer Stephen Jaffe will host a pre-concert discussion in anticipation the Saturday event. Please join is for this informative and pleasant conversation!
