Brahms, Ravel & Reger
Thursday, August 14, 2025 , 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Pianist Mihae Lee returns to EEC in a performance of Brahms’ A major piano quartet, a work that shows his softer, Schubertian side. Written in his 1920s style, Ravel’s Sonata for violin and cello has absorbed modernism’s lean aesthetics, but also the rhythmic energy of jazz, while also revealing the composer’s flair for thrilling string acrobatics. Max Reger’s Serenade for flute and strings catches the composers in a relaxed, joyous mood, and at the hight of his powers, as the preeminent German composer of his time. All in all, it is an optimistic, playful program.
- Max Reger: Serenade for Flute, Violin and Viola in G Major, Op. 141a
- Maurice Ravel: Sonata for Violin and Cello
- Johannes Brahms: Piano Quartet in A Major, Op. 26
Laura Gilbert, flute; Emilie-Anne Gendron, violin; Todd Phillips, violin; Matthew Sinno, viola; Mihai Marica, cello; Mihae Lee, piano
