On November 10, 2018, the Tesla Quartet gave an intimate presentation in Jaffrey at the Library. The Tesla’s appearance is part of a series of concerts at community spaces EEC will be presenting in the next year geared specifically to family audiences. We are looking forward to more events in Keene and Jaffrey starting in March 2019….
Electric Earth in the Community
Weather Vest blows through town
On October 5, the mixed-wind quartet Weather Vest brought their unique brand of music to Pierce Elementary in Bennington and the Dublin School (Dublin). The Pierce kids were fascinated and would not let the quartet go without a lengthy question and answer session exploring everything from how a trombone’s air-column produces its sound to how many hours a day they practice.
In the evening our friends at Plowshare Farm hosted Weather Vest in its beautiful Agora.
A romantic visit to Scott-Farrar community
On April 28, the Diderot Quartet and baritone Jesse Blumberg performed songs and quartet selections from the romantic era for about 30 residents of Scott-Farrar Retirement Community in Peterborough.
On April 7, EEC Artistic Directors Jonathan Bagg and Laura Gilbert were joined by piano virtuoso Molly Morkoski for a preview of “A Timeless Place”, performed for the community at Plowshare Farm. This concert included a brand new work titled “Peacocks” by composer Jonathan Elliott.
The Verona Quartet also performed for Plowshare residents on March 8, thrilling the audience with works by Mozart, Brahms, and Janacek.
A week of concerts in the community
On November 1, 2, and 3 EEC brings music, song, and stories into three area schools: Rindge Elementary, Jaffrey Grade School, and ConVal High. Among our area residents are some spectacular musicians: Jazmina MacNeil (Chesham), Nicholas Burns, and Louisa Stonehill (Keene) joined Jonathan Bagg for a week devoted to outreach–5 concerts in all.
Also visited: Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center, and Lukas Community in Temple.
Jamie Laval at Plowshare Farm
Jamie gave an energetic and eloquent demonstration of Scottish fiddling traditions for our friends at Plowshare last Friday.
Fire & Grace at Dublin School and Crotched Mountain
On April 21, Fire & Grace visited the Dublin School, where they gave a beautiful demonstration of their approach to blending musical styles from around the world. Later in the day, they visited Crotched Mountain School and Rehabilitation Center, where they performed for an audience of residents, students, and staff.
