Jennifer & Christopher Cano: “From the Diary of Virginia Woolf”

Electric Earth Concerts presents Metropolitan Opera rising star Jennifer Johnson Cano performing with pianist-husband Christopher Cano.

Ms. Cano is currently appearing in the role of Emilia at the Met, which will air live in HD on October 17. She has also bowed at The Metropolitan Opera as Mercedes, Emilia, Hansel, Nicklausse, Wellgunde and Waltraute and debuted as Meg Page in Falstaff and Bersi in Andrea Chenier. She was honored as a 2015 nominee in the Young Singer category of the International Opera Awards, and she appeared on “Live From Lincoln Center” in January 2015 as part of the Richard Tucker Music Foundation’s annual gala concert. First Prize winner of the 2009 Young Concert Artist International Auditions, she has given stunning recital debuts with Christopher Cano in New York at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, in Washington, DC, at the Kennedy Center, in Boston at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and in Philadelphia at the Kimmel Center. Christopher Cano also has a distinguished career as a soloist and is in high demand as a collaborative pianist. This will be the third appearance of the pair at Electric Earth Concerts.

The concert on October 30 will feature Dominick Argento’s “From the Diary of Virginia Woolf,” a riveting setting of the writer’s private thoughts drawn entirely from the writer’s diary. Argento, an American composer, is known for his large body of vocal music ranging from opera to choral works. The program will also include a Baroque Aria by Porpora, a set of Brahms songs, and “Three Tennyson Songs” by British Composer Jonathan Dove.
